Jacksonville is the County Seat of Duval county .It is in the First Coast region of northeast Florida and is centered on the banks of the St. Johns River. The city of Jacksonville has a total area of 874.3 square miles, making it the largest city in land area in the contiguous United States. To the East of Jacksonville lies the Atlantic Ocean, along with the Jacksonville Beaches. The city is divided by the St Johns River, and the Trout River, a major tributary of the St. Johns River, is located entirely within Jacksonville. The location on the Atlantic Ocean and the St. Johns River was key to the growth of the city and its industry. Jacksonville has the largest deepwater port in the South and the second largest port on the entire East coast.

 Diversification is the strength of Jacksonville’s economy.   Distribution, manufacturing , bio-medical technology and  consumer goods and multiple Military facilities keep the economy stable and provide employment for a majority of the city’s residents. Besides the industries listed here, Jacksonville also has a flourishing tourism industry and the city hosts a number of annual events. The Jacksonville Jazz Festival, World of Nations Celebration, Jacksonville Film Festival and Springing the Blues are just a few of the favorite events held in Jacksonville.

However you don’t need an annual event or festival to be entertained in Jacksonville. At the heart of the city you will find the Jacksonville Landing and Jacksonville Riverwalks. They are known for riverfront shopping and dining but also have attractions such as “The Friendship Fountain”, “The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens” and a variety of parks and museums covering everything from astronomy to Maritime history. If you are looking for a fast paced adventure, you could go to Adventure Landing, a local amusement park, or visit the Jacksonville Zoo and see the second largest animal collection in the state of Florida. Or perhaps attend one of the college or professional sporting events held at one of the local arenas.
